Expanded polymers are identified with the same alphanumeric codes adopted for non-expanded polymers, pursuant to Decision 129/97 / EC. For example, expanded polystyrene packaging is identified with PS 6; a high-density polyethylene foam packaging is identified with HDPE 2.
