Companies will have to comply with stricter rules regarding the use of sustainability claims and labels ( for example, there will be prohibitions on generic claims in the absence of relevant evidence of recognized excellence in environmental performance, claims regarding carbon neutrality, sustainability labels not based on a “certification system,” etc.), as well as in terms of the evidence permitted to substantiate the various types of claims/labels (e.g., generic claims such as “eco-friendly” will be permitted only if there is relevant evidence of “recognized excellence in environmental performance”).
