In the case of boxes exported all over the world, is it correct to indicate the identification code of the material according to Decision 129/97 / EC?

Pursuant to the legislative decree of 3 September 2020, all packaging released for consumption in Italy is subject to the obligation of environmental labeling pursuant to decision 129/97 / EC, which provides for a material identification system that is homogeneous at European level. through alphanumeric encodings, as it is a decision of the European Commission.

The Ministry of Ecological Transition clarified through a note issued on 17 May 2021 that packaging destined for third countries (which must comply with the specific regulations of the country of destination) are excluded from the labeling obligation. Packaging destined for third countries, in all pre-export logistics, must therefore be accompanied by suitable documentation certifying its destination, or by transport documents and / or technical sheets showing the composition information.

It is advisable to check any labeling obligations in force in the countries where the packaging is released for consumption.
