According to Directive 2024/825, the assertion of second raw material content in the composition of the packaging can be disclosed, complying with the following conditions:
- The claim on recycled material content should always be specified and qualified (indicating which object the claim refers to e.g., product, component, packaging, packaging component, and the percentage of recycled material).
- You must always have evidence (based on widely recognized scientific evidence) of what you are communicating.
- If a decision is made to use a sustainability label to communicate recycled content (so-called sustainability label) this must be based on a certification system.
